CatTouch for FT-710 uses Tuner/Linear jack & there is no pass through port
If your Tuner/Linear jack already in use, you cannot add CatTouch
Note: Even with latest firmware, FT-710 has issues with multiple devices using CAT
Set CAT polling on WSJT-X to 10s or more to reduce CAT error dialog popping up
There are no similar issues with CatTouch connected to FT-991/A, FTdx10 or FTdx101D/MP

This firmware file must be in root folder like D:\CatTouch.fw
Unmount / eject SD card from computer to close file
On FT-710 turn off transceiver & leave CatTouch connected< br/>
All other models unplug CAT cable from CatTouch
Insert the card into CatTouch & turn it on (FT-710 turn on transceiver)
CatTouch automatically finds new firmware on SD Card & installs
Do not turn off CatTouch or remove the SD card until it has finished & restarted
Once new firmware installed, Calibrate Touch screen shows
You
MUST use the provided stylus & touch each arrow when prompted
If you touch wrong area, touch calibration will detect an error & repeat the process until you get it correct
The trick with calibrating the screen is to put your glasses on & use the provided stylus
The screen has a resistive touch panel so the stylus must be hard & smooth so as to not scratch the screen. A soft stylus will not work.

FT-857 & FT897 are great "shack in a box" transceivers.
With digital modes like FT8 now so popular, a second CAT port is often needed.
If the rear CAT port is taken up with a tuner or linear, 2ndCat provides that much needed 2nd CAT port.
Easy set up

About ZL1CVD
Located in Timaru, a coastal town in the south island of New Zealand

No big company here, just one person, tinkering, designing & assembling radio related equipment for fellow enthiusiests to enjoy.
My station consists of a Yaesu FT-100D, FT-817, FT-818ND, FT-857, FT-897D, FT-991A, FTdx10, FTdx101D, FT-1000MP MkV Field & Icom IC-7200. Hand held transceivers now limited to a couple of Boafeng UV-5R. I also enjoy
collecting and repairing military radio equipment and presently own Tadarin PRC-174 & PRC-2200, Collins PRC-515, Racal VRM5080, SEL 52s & 52A, AN/URC-113 (Hughes RT-1209 HF SSB exciter with Collins 150W AM7148 PA /
Antenna Coupler), Rohde & Schwarz XK-405 (GB-145 Control Unit, XK-425 400W HF TRX & FK-245 400W antenna coupler), MEL VRC-321, Magnavox PRC-113, Hughes PRC-104, Motorola LST-5E & Harris PRC-138, Racal BCC-39B,
Collins 628T & AN/ARC-186. My main antenna is a Carolina Windom OFC that gets out well on all HF bands 80m and above. I also use a discone for my infrequent VHF & UHF use. My test equipment of note includes Rohde &
Schwarz CRTU-RU, CMU200, HMO1002 & NGMO1, Aeroflex 7100, IFR1900, Agilent E6621A, HP 8924 & mandatory Bird 43 with slugs & loads.

My time is devoted to developing Amateur Radio related products which includes CatDisplay, CatTouch, CatMeters, CatKnobz & a few others. Most days I have an HF rig running FT8 while I'm soldering away preparing
orders for amateurs from around the globe. Now and then a rig will cross the desk for repair which can be equal parts fun or curse given my eyesight is not as good these days. I mix it up with a bit of programming
(Lazarus / C), system configuring (Linux / Windows) and learning about new software or hardware that takes my interest. I know I can pick up the phone or use the internet to contact someone on the other side of the
globe, but for me, the thrill is in making that direct point to point contact with my equipment, sharing my knowledge with other like minded people, helping out where I can & learning.
Stay safe, stay well 73 de Chris ZL1CVD
